Description

Coming back to where I started 2 years ago with the North America Nebula : https://astrob.in/iw5xpv/0/

This time with a dual setup : asi183mm Pro on the Sigma Art 135mm and Antlia Oiii 3nm filter + Canon EOS Ra on TS Imaging Star 71/347 and STC Dua Narrowband filter.

NGC7000 is between 2000 and 2600 light years from us, and would span around 50 light years, which is quite small (average distance between stars is around 5 light years I guess).

Astronomers found out that there is only 1 star (at least one identified) responsible for ionizing the hydrogen and oxygen in the region. This star would be hidden to our scopes being behind the LDN 935 dark nebula that gives its characteristic shape to NGC7000. But visible to IR ;-)

That's really a beatiful region.
